Dennis Rechcygl, Sculptor

Dennis was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
He graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee with a BFA in sculpture. While in college Dennis was employed at the Milwaukee Public Museum as a diorama sculptor and at the Milwaukee Art Center as a museum technician. He was Artist in Residence for the Hilbert, Wisconsin School District for one year after earning his degree.

Around 1980 Dennis partnered with North Light Sculpture Studio in Milwaukee
where he sculpted and cast life size diorama figures for the several natural
history museums. He did sculpture restoration, private commissions and
fine art sculpture as well during this period. Later, he opened his own studio
and was commissioned to design and construct the facades of four themed
restaurants for the 1982 World’s Fair in Knoxville, Tennessee. At this time he
also designed and modeled prototypes for various commercial products.

Dennis went back to school to retrain in mechanical engineering and
upon graduation was employed by J.I. Case in Racine, Wisconsin. In 1986 he
was hired by Raytheon Company in Tewksbury, MA. He moved with
his wife, artist Pat LaBrecque, to Massachusetts and eventually to New Hampshire.
He is currently a senior principal support engineer with Raytheon.

Dennis has continued with his sculpture on a part time basis, currently modeling
a series of figures to be cast in bronze.  Dennis and Pat opened Black Brook Gallery in their home in Goffstown, NH in 2006.
